Thomas J. Hogan: a True Tiger
This was a video created in honor of Mr. Hogan. These images and videos were collected from WDEL, and many pictures from staff and alumni.
Thomas J. Hogan was a teacher and coach at Alexis I. duPont High School for 18 years. He also graduated from A.I. in 1988. In July of 2017 he lost his long and arduous battle to cancer.
Hogan was a Social Studies and History teacher as well as coach to the Tiger’s football, wrestling and softball teams. He was nominated to be an honorary football coach at the Delaware Blue- Gold All- Star football game. In 2012, he served as the Social Studies department chair as well as being honored as the A.I. duPont’s Teacher of the Year.
Not only was he an exceptional teacher and colleague but an exceptional person: during his own battle with cancer, Mr. Hogan was also a strong advocate for many other cancer patients and their families. He was a committee member, mentor, and speaker for the Helen Graham Cancer Center. In 2012 he was a keynote speaker at the For Pete’s Sake annual gala.
